Polaris Group Fund manager is heavily invested in Marathon Oil. He even said in an interview on PBS that he is invested indriectly (personal funds) in the Polaris fund, which is a major holder of MRO. I see lots of development deals in the news. Good Buzzz (short term), and a very tight balance sheet (long term). ( Close) |

Rising food prices, rising gas costs, transportation costs, rising energy costs, inflation, and the threat of recession, two powerful profit eaters: inflation/ reduced disposable income. I feel 2008 will bring a reduction of (slight) or a hold back on expansion plans, and profit margns will shrink if factors I mentione do take in 2008. ( Close) |

I wanted to buy this earlier in year when I saw it at 300. Income statment seems solid. I'm always a bit hestiant with Chinese ADR's, as full dislcosure, transparency, accounting standards, et cetera are not as easy to follow with a domestic dot.com. For me this is risky, as I have added expsoure to China via an index. Earnings eatsinate came in soldily !! china is radiply adding bandwith, connectivty, and subscribers onto the face of it's internet/computer user population. 2008 olympics should be a great boost to Baidu ( China's google), not sure what numbers are on this , or if Baudi is provided co-barnded ( Olympic logo) services, but I'm in the long term on tis, but will sell if its falls below 350.

CAT is set to reap the benefits of a sinking U.S. dollar, and the overseas construction booms in Asia (from government backed infrastructure products), Latin America, and Eastern Europe. These are all markets where CAT is strong, despite stiff local competition, so it should continue to do well. ( Close) |
