CapMed, a Division of Bio-Imaging Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: BITI), a leader in interactive personal health management solutions, will demonstrate how its onlinePHR™ and icePHR™ products connect with Microsoft HealthVault (www.healthvault.com), Microsoft's consumer health platform, at the HealthVault Solutions Conference, June 9-10, 2008, in Bellevue, WA. CapMed's onlinePHR provides consumers with robust health management tools, while its icePHR provides consumers with an in case of emergency (ice) personal health record (PHR:PHR) designed for use in emergencies.
"CapMed's strategic relationship with Microsoft, which was announced at the launch of HealthVault in October 2007, will give millions of Americans greater access to their personal health records - a move that promises to empower patients with better control of and access to their health information, bridging the pervasive information gaps that exist between patients, clinicians and institutions," said Wendy Angst, General Manager for CapMed (www.capmed.com). "CapMed's onlinePHR and icePHR work with Microsoft HealthVault to provide consumers with private and timely access to personal health information in a security-enhanced environment, virtually whenever and wherever they need it. By collaborating with HealthVault, we know that CapMed's products will provide consumers with a personal health record that is secure and accessible from any computer."
CapMed's subscription-based onlinePHR allows consumers to better manage their health information online with the simple click of a mouse and a secure ID and password. Once within onlinePHR, consumers can take advantage of multiple tools and features to manage their family's information, including email reminders and alerts for preventive care, drug interaction checks, risk assessments, common medical forms, and even the ability to import data from remote healthcare monitoring devices. Consumers also have the ability to authorize providers, family members, and caregivers to view all or part of the data within the PHR and to transfer their medical information to multiple physician practices.
With CapMed's icePHR, consumers update personal health information through a secure, password-protected, personalized Web site accessible from any computer. Consumers receive a unique web address for accessing securely stored information, and providing access to emergency personnel for themselves and up to 10 family members. Such information can range from demographics and blood type to allergies, conditions, medications, implantable devices, health insurance information, emergency contacts and active health orders such as the existence of a living will. Consumers can also depend on icePHR technology when they fill out or update health and medical forms at physician practices, schools and the workplace.
"CapMed's icePHR, with HealthVault, gives consumers peace-of-mind that they can access and make available their critical health data to people they trust - when and as needed," said David Cerino, general manager, Microsoft Health Solutions Group. "Innovative solutions like icePHR are critical to improving the quality of care."
HealthVault is a free Web-based platform designed to put people in control of their health data. It provides people with a choice of third-party applications and devices to help them manage things such as fitness, diet and health. HealthVault also provides a privacy- and security-enhanced foundation on which a broad ecosystem of providers - from medical providers and health and wellness device manufactures to health associations - can build innovative new health and wellness management solutions to help put people in control of their own health and the health of their families.
The unique features and benefits of CapMed's PHR have earned the company the Best PHR Award at the 2006, 2007 and 2008 sessions of the Toward an Electronic Patient Record (TEPR:TEPR) conference, sponsored by the Medical Records Institute.
