Tekelec (NASDAQ:TKLC), a leader in core multimedia session control, will lead an in-depth workshop focused on ENUM and deliver a presentation highlighting Number Portability best practices at the Number Portability 2008 conference in Budapest, Hungary, September 15-18.

We'll share our 'lessons learned while discussing the steps we see necessary for successful implementations.
The ENUM workshop will be held Monday, September 15, and will be led by Robby Benedyk, senior product manager, and Amrit Wadhwa, product marketing manager, of Tekelec. In their workshop, they will lead discussions on a wide range of topics including: the technical challenges of using ENUM to facilitate NP; evaluating the extent to which infrastructure ENUM improves PSTN and IP based NP administration in terms of reducing cost complexity; and determining advantages and disadvantages of using SS7 switching as an alternative to ENUM.
On Tuesday, September 16, Kurt Damm, director of technical sales support, will deliver a presentation that highlights the critical elements to consider when deploying number portability and offers best practices gained from the company's most successful number portability efforts, worldwide. Topics to be covered include: the pros and cons of using a centralized NP database versus a distributed one; mapping telephone numbers to IP addresses (ENUM:ENUM); and evaluating the impact of NP on existing services, such as SMS.
